Istanbul Okan University, established in 1999 by the Okan Culture, Education, and Sports Foundation in Istanbul, is a foundation university known for its modern approach to education. The university's academic structure includes various academic units such as the Faculties of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Science and Letters, Engineering-Architecture, and Social Sciences Research Institutes. I am doing MBA from Okan University. I'm from Pakistan. Okan has a large number of international students. The university's departments of medicine, BDS and business studies are somewhat better. None of the other departments are good. If you are looking to get admission in any of these three then come. Otherwise, there are many universities in Turkey that are better than Okan. Also the fees are quite high if you got a scholarship like I got then definitely come otherwise there are cheaper universities in Turkey than Okan. Overall I rate the university six out of ten. At number minus four are the tasteless (50/50 menu) mess food, the sluggishness of the International Student Affairs Department and the high fees.

Even one star is too much for this awful place. This university is nothing but a waste of your money, a bunch of thieves. The amount of problems I faced the minute I stepped into this place is more than I can list in here. Problems with all kinds of things including the language, the professors, the exams, the grading system, and so much more. Such poor educational system with professors that can’t even speak English properly with. Some of them even switch to Turkish sometimes like when this one professor got mad at us once for not being active and for not answering the questions from the previous lectures, that must’ve been a joke because she’s the problem herself. She kept talking and talking and didn’t even respect the fact that there are so many foreign students in the class that will not understand what she’s saying and yet she just kept going. I had 3 professor for the same course where each one of them had completely different ppt slides and teaching methods, yet after all that confusion, I had one test made by god knows which one of them. I had to do a 6 weeks internship in a hospital in which no one speaks a word of English and I had to get evaluated at the end of the internship, how is that even possible? A professor gave me a zero on my assignments even though I did them all on time and way before the due date. I tried to tell her about my issue but she kept leaving me on delivered for weeks and completely ignoring my messages. It took her more than a month to fix my grade and throughout the process she still ignored my messages and does not even reply until I send her more than one message. How do you expect students to pass their courses when you’re making everything extremely complicated and difficult for them? This just proves that this university is only after the students’ money. They don’t care about giving their students the education they’re paying good money to get. If you truly care about your well being and mental health, do not even think about going here.

An awful place which waste your money and your career, this uni doesn't have a certain schedule and they are all thieves. Don't burn your money and don't waste your time in this place. You may have so many choices better than Okan. Don't trust their words. Even one star is too much for this place!

I studied at Okan University during my Erasmus, in spring 2019. I loved everything: from my wonderful teachers in the Architecture department to my classmates, kind and always ready to give me a hand, especially the first days of university. I appreciated the organization of the dormitory and the canteen, the two large libraries where you can study, the swimming pool and the gym for your free time. The campus has all the amenities, very close to the airport and well connected to the centre. I was there for only 4 and I didn't have any negative experience, in fact one night I was sick and the doctors and nurses in the dormitory took good care of me even though we didn't speak the same language. I recommend this university to all Erasmus students and I would be very happy to go back.
