In 2008, a university was established in Gaziantep under the name Gazikent, and it commenced its educational activities in the 2009-2010 academic year. Built upon the cultural and historical riches of a city that has hosted dozens of civilizations and has a history spanning thousands of years, the university is one of the four universities located in Gaziantep. Hasan Kalyoncu University aims to be a world university in Gaziantep, one of the world's oldest cities. Additionally, the university aspires to be one of the most successful research centers in the GAP Region.

GAZİANTEP
Gaziantep, formerly known as Antep, is the center town of the same name city located between Southeastern Anatolia Region and Mediterranean Region. The city has the largest population in the southeast. It is the first in terms of industry and development. Gaziantep is divided into two metropolitan towns: Şehit Kamil and Şahinbey. In terms of development, it is the 20th largest city in Turkey. In addition, Gaziantep is the oldest city in Turkey and is still one of the oldest cities in the world. Besides Gaziantep also has an important place in industry and trade of Turkey. Bedestens are covered shopping bazaars. Old traditions still continue in historical bazaars. There are many Bedestens in Gaziantep province. Some of these are Kemikli Bedesten, Zincirli Bedesten and Hüseyin Pasha Bedesten.
