Bozok University, founded in 2006 in Yozgat, has its roots dating back to 1982. The first institution of higher education in Yozgat began with the establishment of a vocational school affiliated with Erciyes University. In 2006, it became an independent university by separating from Erciyes. The main campus of Bozok University is located in the city center of Yozgat.

As of 2021, Yozgat Bozok University (YBU) provides education to a total of 18,986 students, including 37 international students, and has a staff of 2,095 academic and administrative personnel.
