Founded in 1992 in Kütahya, Dumlupınar University (DPÜ) is a state university with roots dating back to 1974, built upon faculties and colleges separated from Anadolu University. Officially named Kütahya Dumlupınar University in 2018, it is a large educational institution with 45,201 enrolled students and 1,937 international students. Embracing the motto "Adding value to the future," DPÜ aims to produce qualified graduates. It focuses on nurturing research-oriented, productive, self-improving individuals who are environmentally and socially conscious, ethical, innovative, and virtuous. Additionally, the university is committed to enhancing the quality of life in its region, offering solutions to this end.
The university's campus, known for its architectural design, is equipped to meet the expectations and needs of students. Located near the city center, the campus offers a variety of rich social amenities. Many private dormitories surround the campus. DPÜSosyopark, unique in its field, fosters student community activities and social projects. Cultural, artistic, and sports activities are actively supported by the university. The campus features diverse social facilities, including an Olympic swimming pool, an athletics track, and a stadium.
DPÜ has been a long-time participant in the Erasmus, Mevlana, and Farabi Programs, and has recently added the Erasmus Plus program. It has received the "Diploma Supplement Label" from the European Commission. DPÜ KAMER, the university's career center, connects graduating students with employers and provides counseling services for job placement. According to the Times Higher Education (THE) report, Dumlupınar University ranks among the world's youngest and most qualified universities, being one of the 40 Turkish universities to achieve this distinction. In the SCImago 2021 evaluation, it ranked 769th among world universities. Its Faculty of Fine Arts ranks in the top 500 globally and second among Turkish universities, as per URAP evaluation.
The university's facilities include ATMs, banks, a football field, security services, cafeterias, canteens, stationery stores, a conference hall, a library, parking, student dormitories, a health center, a gym, free internet, on-campus transportation, a dining hall, walking trails, a swimming pool, and an accessible campus.
