Bandırma On Yedi Eylül University (BANÜ), a new state university with a history of 28 years, was established in the Bandırma district of Balıkesir on April 23, 2015. Initially operating as faculties and colleges of Balıkesir University, BANÜ has continued its academic life within this structure. As of the 2021-2022 academic year, it provides education to approximately 18,000 students, 1,556 of whom are international.
